On the afternoon of April 19, 2021, the signing and unveiling ceremony of the “Joint R&D Center of New Materials and Technologies for in Vitro Diagnostics” between Zhejiang Orient Gene Biotech Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Orient Gene”) and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (hereinafter referred to as “SJTU”) was held in the Translational Medicine Building of Minhang Campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Song Bo, deputy secretary of the CPC Anji County Party Committee and county magistrate of the Anji County People’s Government, Gao Anbing, member of the Party Leadership Group of Anji County People’s Government and secretary of the Party Working Committee of Development Zone; Zhu Xinyuan, member of the Party Committee of SJTU and dean of the Institute of Science and Technology Development, Sun Baode, dean of the School of Materials, Chen Xin, director of the Scientific Research and Development Office of the National Facility for Translational Medicine (Shanghai), Li Wanwan, researcher of the School of Materials and director of the Joint R&D Center; Fang Xiaoliang, chairman of Orient Gene, Zhong Chunmei, deputy general manager, and Bai Yanjun, R&D director attended the signing and unveiling ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Zhang Bing, director of Science and Technology Development Center of School of Materials.

The leaders of SJTU highly affirmed the strategic initiatives of cooperation among Anji County Government, Orient Gene and SJTU, and said that the signing of the “Joint R&D Center between Orient Gene and SJTU” was a very important thing for the School of Materials. They hope to make joint efforts to give full play to their respective strengths, achieve better results and contribute as much as they can to the development of the country.

Fang Xiaoliang, chairman of Orient Gene, expressed his ardent expectation for the long-term cooperation with SJTU, and said that he would spare no effort to increase the investment and construction of the Joint R&D Center, so that the R&D results generated in the future cooperation could be quickly productized on the platform of the enterprise, and at the same time, he would make contributions to the strong cooperation between the university and the enterprise and the cultivation of high-end talents in the field of in vitro diagnosis. As a developing innovative medical device enterprise, Orient Gene attaches great importance to this scientific research cooperation and looks forward to more fruitful results in the future cooperation.

Researcher Li Wanwan, director of the Joint R&D Center, introduced the construction of the center, hoping to successfully build a cooperation bridge among Anji County, Orient Gene and SJTU through the Joint R&D Center, so as to transform scientific research achievements into productive forces, and help Orient Gene become a world-class medical device enterprise as soon as possible, and make contributions to the national strategy of Healthy China.

Researcher Li Wanwan and deputy general manager Zhong Chunmei signed the cooperation agreement of “Joint R&D Center of New Materials and Technologies for in Vitro Diagnostics” on behalf of both parties.

County magistrate Song Bo and dean Sun Baode unveiled the “Joint R&D Center of New Materials and Technologies for in Vitro Diagnostics” between Orient Gene and SJTU.

Finally, county magistrate Song Bo expressed his warm congratulations on the signing and unveiling of the cooperation agreement of the Joint R&D Center and raised his ardent expectations.

At the end of the event, the leading guests visited the laboratory of the Joint R&D Center, National Facility for Translational Medicine (Shanghai) and other related facilities.
